I for one can’t stand typing on my smartphone, which happens to be an iPhone 5. The predictive capability doesn’t seem to work all that well, or maybe it’s just me, because others have mentioned it isn’t all that bad for them. Anyway after giving Fleksy a try and can say that it provides 100% accuracy, and is pretty amazing. The only thing I don’t like is you swipe to the right for space. This is hard for me to grasp since I am so used to traditional qwerty keyboard typing, however I am sure over time that wouldn’t be an issue.

Attention Apple buy this company, before Google does. I am sure somebody will snatch this company up, unless they already have and I am late to the party.

What Moonbot Studios has done for the books is extremely creative. This is so cool and from experience I can tell you book publishers need to be open to any and all creative ideas. They still tend to be so reluctant to anything digital thinking that it will always kill the book.

Now we are getting somewhere… Finally someone is using technology to enhance the museum experience in an ingenius way. We have been trying to work with local museums with ideas to do things like this, but its been challenging getting buy-in and the appropriate funds.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is leading the way.

Check out the excellent case-study it’s a good read from FastCompany

Way too long

Ok, I know its been forever since I posted anything here but as we say to clients all the time “its a lot of work to keep your blog and materials active”. I actually started another blog focused on one of my other great passions: Photography. However I keep coming across things that I think would be great to share via this blog so I decided to try and actively keep both sites somewhat current.

Mattel going heavy into the interactive space.

Looks like we will continue to see more and more of these types of virtual and physical combinations. This video is from Engadget and demonstrates several different games that utilize physical devices. Mattel is calling these their Apptivities which are a new line of toys made from conductive plastic.

An ingenious virtual display that gets people active. Not sure if it will help sell more shoes but props to asics for the installation and the effect.

Here is another example of incorporating the iPad with a physical environment piece to support enhanced board gaming experiences.

I knew it was only a matter of time before more of these things began rolling out. This particular device is really interesting from the standpoint that it provides flexibility to support different games and different experiences every time you play. The company behind the GameChanger is planning on coming out with new game apps and skins which will be sold separately.

Obviously none of this would really be justified from a business perspective without the pervasiveness of the iPad. So time will tell how many different types of these things we will see or exactly how successful they will become. Kodo’s to Identity Games International for launching the GameChanger.
